text-align: left;\">\n<span class=\"dh3\">SYNOPSIS<\/span>  <\/p>\n<div class=\"dtxt2\" style=\"padding-right=15px\">\nAlejandra is a free spirit who lives life as she wants. She lives with her mother in a small, comfortable apartment in Bogota\u0301 and spends most nights drinking or dancing with her close but complicated circle of friends, including her best friend Ve\u0301ronica and her some-time boyfriend Toma\u0301s.<\/p>\n<p>Alejandra expresses her playful independence and passion in these friendships, as well as in her sexual conquests with various men, without consequence. She embraces the routines and rituals in her life, as she makes her way through the world.<\/p>\n<p>Yet, Alejandra\u2019s comfort is also where the complexity lies. Although the expectations her friends and her mother have of her define Alejandra\u2019s life in many ways, the youthful intensity with which she connects to her surroundings gradually comes to a head. During a trip outside of the city with her friends, a seemingly innocuous game reveals that something has shifted in Alejandra, and that she remains on the brink of a greater spiritual and sexual consciousness about herself. In Alejandra, we see someone who is willing to walk in the dark alone.<\/p>\n<p> <i><b>Se\u00f1oritas<\/b><\/i> is a subtle, contemplative and deeply intimate examination of the way one young woman navigates the daunting terrain of sex, desire and identity.\n<\/div>\n<p>\n<span class=\"dh3\">DIRECTOR\u2019S STATEMENT<\/span>  <\/p>\n<div class=\"dtxt2\">\n <i><b>Se\u00f1oritas<\/b><\/i> stems from my experience growing up as a woman in Bogota\u0301 and my process of self-discovery amidst the constant negotiation between my expectations of myself and the expectations of those around me.<\/p>\n<p>As the project and ideas developed, it became clear that one of the ways I could materialize the tension between these internal and external expectations was through a very intimate observation of the contrast between the public life of the protagonist (her life in front of others, with others, for others) and her private life. As I was searching for a way to visually flesh out how Alejandra transitioned from one side of her life to the other, I realized that body language would be the narrative and stylistic through line of the film.
